(#22) What is a Solana RPC node
SOL token characteristics, don't give up in the downswings, it's all good baby babyy
So much in the world requires nuance and I feel like we lack so much compassion for people’s journeys as individuals. Specifically, when it comes to ‘petty canceling’ online I’ve seen people get shit on for things like:
**yooo lets dig up 10-year-old tweets from the past and deem them socially unacceptable.
I guess what I am trying to say is we all grow and change as humans, but it can be tricky to document this process on the internet as a ‘creator’ or anyone ‘putting themselves out there’ because anyone can spin past versions (i.e. you growing and changing) in a negative light.
Of course, if it’s crazy dangerous shit RED FLAG & cancel but overall I find people love to cancel and mob lol. but in reality, social media allows everyone to be exposed the good and the bad. There is a lot of harm in putting the bad in a silo.
good clip from Impaulsive pod on this topic
⛓️ Solana Blockchain Notes
SOL RPC - What is it?
In crypto all the data is on-chain. To fetch it you interface with the nodes participating in the network.
For Solana to function it needs a distributed network of nodes running its client(s).
Nodes can be divided into validators and RPCs.
validators = nodes that vote ‘yes’ this block is valid
rpcs= nodes that handle HTTP requests for on-chain data
When you make a Remote Procedure Call (RPC) you are invoking a procedure/function on another computer. For example, to get data on the Solana blockchain you would make a JSON-RPC request to an RPC node participating in the network.
How NFTs work on Solana
First, a quick overview of how coins work, a coin (aka a token) on Solana has a few characteristics:
An ID - this is called the mint and is stored in the mint account. The mint account is a storage account that is controlled by the Solana Token Program.
Metadata — Name, symbol, price, etc. This information is stored in accounts on chain and places off chain.
Total Supply — Let’s say there are 1 million BEL coins. This BEL could be stored on one account or spread out across a bunch of different accounts. Each account stores a certain number of BEL and points to the owner. So I could have multiple accounts that store BEL. My overall balance is the sum of the BEL in these accounts.
An NFT is just a coin with a supply of 1. So each NFT has the following accounts (which are all Storage Accounts):
Mint — This is the ID of the NFT and stores some basic metadata.
Metadata — This has even more Metadata about the NFT. For historical reasons, it’s another storage account...
Token — This stores who owns the NFT.
So if you own an NFT, what that means is the Token account for the NFT says that you are the owner.

✫ Quote
Going through long periods with no progress is part of growth, the hardest part is accepting you are not good at something but are committed to trying and keeping going. I make this mistake as much as the next person and have to remind myself not to give up in the downswings.
Hence why loving the journey more than the destination is so important.
“Reality rarely gives us the privilege of a satisfying linear positive progression: You may study for a year and learn nothing, then, unless you are disheartened by the empty results and give up, something will come to you in a flash.” - Taleb
👁️🗨️ Shower thoughts
- the ability to drive attention is not really obvious until you walk into a stadium with 20k ppl or just hear thousands of ppl chanting someone's name
- Sometimes I have to take breaks from twitter bc i don’t think i’m supposed to know what this many ppl are thinking all the time……which then makes it cloudy for me to think for my self as humans we were not built to process this much info at once 😅 love-hate relationship w it
- running, music and absolutely vibing in the sun. cures all ❤️
